The Best Musicals of All Time

When the American Film Institute celebrated their 100 years last 2006, they unveiled the list of the top 25 musicals in America of all time.  As per Wikipedia, here's the list:

24 Show Boat 1936 Universal

25 Moulin Rouge! 2001 20th Century Fox

Out of the 25, I have only seen 8 films on the list.  And I would want to see everything on the list soon!  I'm going to start to get copies of these one by one.  I would also want copies of their soundtracks!

If I did the list, I would most probably kep the 8 that I've seen on the list, but not necessarily on that order.  I would be including Lion King, Cats (Is the film version considered a movie? hehehehe) and Rent!  And more that I can't really think of right now.

How about you?  What would be on your list?  What's your favorite musical of all time?  Comment away!

  1. Hi Laarni! Thanks for posting this list, I love it! I'm a fan of musicals and have watched around half the entries here, I'll be downloading those I haven't yet, I want to watch them all! My all time favorite would have to be The Sound of Music, I can no longer count the number of times I've seen it.
