Whispering Palms Island Resort in Sipaway

 29 October 2011

Whenever we go out of the metro, most often than not, our primary destination is the beach.  And our trip to Bacolod is not an exception.  As I have mentioned in my previous post, since we missed the MassKara festival, we might as well travel around and the beach should be a main destination.

We stayed at the Whispering Palms Island Resort of Sipaway Island, but ending up in this resort did not come as easy as you may think.

Bacolod: Home of the Best Chicken Inasal

 26 October 2011

For about 4 years now, we have been wanting to attend Bacolod's Masskara Festival. And this year, we thought we would be finally part of it. Unfortunately, they changed the date of the festivities and we already had our plane tickets booked. So, yet again, we missed the Masskara Festival. Of course, this would not stop us from having fun and exploring the City of Smiles and even beyond!

My succeeding posts would be all about our adventures in Negros Occidental and let me start of with something yummy! Chicken Inasal!

The Jagged Barn's New Look

 10 October 2011

I most of the time wonder, when is the best time to change my blog's look? It has been two years and I haven't changed the template or used any other template for The Jagged Barn. I guess, it's high time to make some changes and give this blog a new look!

Like the previous template, I went to Simply Fabulous Blogger Templates to check out their three column designs and actually fell in love with two templates. I asked Tin what she thinks to break the tie.

Of course a couple of tweaks needs to be done and the tutorials of Simply Famous Blogger Templates are the best and very easy to follow. I'll actually go back there and check a couple more tutorials I can use for The Jagged Barn.

If there's one advice I can give in changing the look of your blog, that's BACK IT UP!

  • save your current template - this would be useful when you think you made the wrong decision. it would be easier to bring back your original template. even if you're 100% sure already, the template you wanted may not be really what you thought it would be. so, instead of staying with a broken site, you can just reload the original one while you search for the perfect new template.

  • make a list of your widgets - use a program that's easy for your to copy-paste (I used notepad). list all the widgets that you currently have and either write simple descriptions of each widget or the html code that's in that widget. most of the time new templates would not be able to keep or save your current widgets. so, when you are prompted to delete all widgets, there's no need to fret, because you've backed up all information regarding the widgets that you already have.
Changing blog templates could be addicting, but I would have to stop myself in making changes everyday. Besides, I don't really have that much time. Although, I think, even if I do, I don't want you guys go looking for things or wondering if you're in the right place all the time.

Here's a collage of screen shots of my old template for comparison and in memory of..

So, what do you think of the new look? Is there anything you miss from the old template that's not here? Let me know in your comments! I would love to know what you think!

Two Years of Barn's Jaggedness

 08 October 2011

The Jagged Barn has been up and about for two years now.  Of course, not without some challenges and down time.

I'm grateful to all the followers of this blogs.  Thank you for sharing a piece of my insanity and your sanity through your comments.

As we go to the third year of Jaggedness, I wish for the following:

  • regain my PR 3 blog rating (that was my rating before I went on hiatus)
  • be able to host a give-away (winking at sponsors hihihihi!)
  • have more followers and receive more comments.. i always gush on comments!
  • and in line with the passing of Steve Jobs, my iTouch crashed and needs to be restored and I'm currently having a difficult time doing so, and my iTouch has played a very important role in making me blog again, so, a short time wish is that it gets fixed for me to be able to blog easily again.
Again, thank you for being with The Jagged Barn for two years, 81 followers, 121 posts, 277 comments and currently at PageRank 2!  Thank you very much!

 02 October 2011

Tin was tasked to buy giveaways for their managers at work and she chose to get some from Papemelroti. I joined her in going to their main store in Quezon City and found a great find for myself: Vintage.

Vintage is an extension of Papemelroti and could be found in the second floor of their main store at Koben Place, 91 Roces Ave. Cor. Scout Tobias St.
Quezon City, 1103 Philippines.
