A Jagged Book Review: Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events

One of the most apparent reasons why I was unable to blog for a long time was I again found the zeal for cracking a book and this time it was a whole complete series of 12 books! Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events to be specific.

Genre: Fiction

Publisher: HarperCollins

Publishing Date: 1999 to 2006

I first heard of this series from my coolest manager and friend and got curious. Saw how costly each book was and she told me that she bought hers from eBay, which is waaay cheaper. But I didn't get to buy it then. It was just a desire or part of my simple bucket list.

The movie came out and I want it sooo bad, but was still too poor to get them.

Not that I'm any richer now, but I was able to get a very good deal on eBay! It was already the whole set, and free shipping! So, I grabbed the offer and started reading.. And simply couldn't stop until I've finished reading the whole series. Wanting to finish 12 novels is not that easy and really made a toll on my blogging. But all's good! I'm writing again! :)

Just like what I've felt in the movie, this not really that good for kids. The writing may seem to be in the format of some children's books that there are a lot of repeating phrases to stick or even defining big words, but the story or what's really happening is sooo not for children.

I can't wait to finish the first three books since that was what's shown in the movie, I think I cracked them in a day or two, then, I was on a steady pace of one book per day. I barely have any sleep, but didn't matter much.

It get a little sour though when I we had house renovations and it was not conducive to reading and all at the same time I sort of lost the zeal and excitement in the last three to four books. There were too much mysteries that I really doubted that they would all unfold with just a couple of books left. And I was right.

So, the curious me went over to Mr. Google and Wiki and yes, it's not that I misunderstood anything, it's just the way it is. Not all your questions would be answered, but the big ones would definitely be. But I would still want them all answered! Hahahahahahaha! So, I'll try to get hold of the other books out there by Lemony Snicket.

It sure can make you think that it's an alternate universe and sometimes wonder that this is not that entirely impossible. It's a great adventure and somehow slightly more of inspiring in spite of all the unfortunate events. I might read them again, just for the fun of it!

What have you read lately? Do, tell! How was it? Leave a comment!
